Leading security solutions manufacturer ERA has appointed Chris Ecclestone as its new Smart Security Product Manager. With a wide-ranging background rooted in advancing technological innovation across industries including defence, automotive and engineering, Chris’s role at ERA is to push the company’s Smart Security offering forward with a consumer-friendly approach as the market continues to grow.
Speaking on the growth of smart tech adoption by consumers across the UK and ERA’s role in that, Chris said: “The demand for smart security tech in the home is rapidly increasing and there is still a lot of room for growth in the market.
“Our focus is on how the end user interacts with our technology – it’s about adapting to their growing requirements with regards to compatibility and integration with other smart products in the home.
“We’re making smart security products that work, and we don’t want to over complicate that, so we’re going to develop our offering at the right pace.
“Rather than adding extra tech for the sake of it, we’ll bring through the right technology at the right time, with the end user always in mind. Technology that compliments ERA’s extensive hardware portfolio’’.
From making its first lock in 1838, ERA is a well-established presence in the UK security market, with a reputation built on expertise in traditional home security solutions. In recent years, it has expanded into the smart security sector and now offers extended ecosystem that can be smart handles and alarm systems that can be controlled via the ERA Smart Home App.

ERA’s recent introductions to the smart tech market includes the ERA Protect Smart Universal Door Handle, a solution for lift-to-lock multi-point locks, commonly found on PVCu or composite doors, which offers keyless entry through multiple access methods, including fingerprint recognition for up to 50 users.
In addition, to the ERA TouchKey, an advanced keyless entry system, which is the first and only system of its kind to combine five different entry methods into a single, secure door handle, designed for fabrication with composite and timber entrance doors.
