ERA, experts in the development, manufacture and distribution of home security solutions, celebrates its 16th consecutive UKAS accreditation for its test centre this year.
The test centre, which is based at ERA’s headquarters in the West Midlands, was formally granted its reaccreditation in earlier this year by UKAS, which is appointed by the G overnment to assess and grant accreditations to companies that provide testing, certification and inspection offerings. The UKAS accreditation is a prestigious certification that establishes trust and confidence in products and services both nationally and internationally.
ERA’s in-house testing laboratory is fully equipped to test casement windows, sash windows and single or double doors to the latest British Standards.
A team of engineers conduct rigorous testing within the laboratory to ensure that the performance of manufacturers’ doors and windows meet criteria outlined by PAS 24 and other relevant standards from the British Standards Institute. This includes testing for security risks, weather tightness, and operating and strength characteristics.
The accreditation, which was first issued to the test house in 2007, has been reaccredited in accordance with UKAS’ International Standard ISO/IEC 17025:2017 for General Requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories.
Ben Penson, Technical, Innovation and Development Director at ERA said:
“2023 marks the 16th consecutive year of the ERA test house accredited by UKAS and reflects how seriously we take the certification and testing of our customer's doors and windows, own hardware, in addition to a wide spectrum of products from window and door manufacturers across the industry.
“All products that are concerned with the safety and security of the home should meet the highest of standards, and our lab enables us to ensure that. We look forward to maintaining our industry-leading testing abilities and continuing to work closely with door and window manufacturers to assist them in achieving the highest standards of certification and compliance.”
